After several months apart, he returned and apologised, so I allowed communication to resume. I asked about the child and the baby mama.
I was told the baby mama moved to US and that they were simply co-parenting.
This became the explanation I relied on for the next period of our relationship.
2024–2025
There were occasions when he told me the child was sick and that he had to travel urgently to see her. There were also occasions when plans for him to visit me changed because of circumstances involving the child’s mother that her dad was sick and she had to travel to Nigeria urgently.
I was repeatedly reassured that there was nothing romantic between them and that they did not live together. I believed I was dating a single father.

I noticed he had become distant, so I asked him what was wrong.
During a conversation, I jokingly asked if he was “pregnant.”
Baba said yes and then told me that a woman had become pregnant for him.
He said it happened while we were not speaking in April, that it was unplanned and that he had accepted paternity. I believed him ooo.
October 2023
He told me he was travelling to me and that we were finally going to see each other before I moved to the UK. He kept me updated about his journey and I was preparing to meet him at the airport.
Then, on the morning he was supposed to arrive, he told me he had been stopped because of an alleged issue involving the pregnant lady. He said she had reported that he was trying to leave and marry someone else in Nigeria. I believed this story too.
