β‘οΈ MOMO IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -He is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. He is now displaying more intense distance increasing behaviors, hissing and swatting hard when interaction is attempted. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.π₯π₯π₯π₯
A volunteer writes: I'm sure that there are plenty of things that Momo wishes he could tell us. Things that would help us to understand who he is and what he likes, but any variation of communication can be easier said than done when you're all on your own. Momo isn't exactly that, as we're proudly on his team, but he's still left us guessing quite a bit. Mostly what we've been able to deduce are things that Momo doesn't like. When I met him, he tried to politely decline my friendship by folding himself into the corner and flattening his little ears. Though Momo successfully made his point, I also know that he's been through quite a few changes recently through no fault of his own. At the shelter he tends to lean away or freeze in place in response to our outstretched hands and though he does allow some pets from time to time, it hasn't exactly been his thing. We're very sure that a forever family where he can be himself and communicate as freely as he feels will be the perfect fit. What my friends at ACC say about me: I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I have lived with cats in my previous home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life. Hi, my name is Pj and the shelter has been a little overwhelming for me. I came from a home with many cats, who I've gotten along with well. Because I've lived in this home my entire life and have only been around one person, I have little experience with people and am hesitant of new experiences. I would enjoy living in a quiet home, preferably one with lots of vertical space so I have a place to perch and observe the room. I would also appreciate having experienced, patient adopter(s) who are willing to take things slow with me. I would benefit from socialization, using rewards whenever I make a small positive step like making eye contact, allowing petting, or sniffing your hand. I'd prefer to take things at my own pace and would appreciate some good old fashion TLC. If you can open your heart to adopt a cat like me, I'll hopefully have the confidence to come around to my new people, like you! β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»

β‘οΈ 50 DAYS IN SHELTER β TOO LONG β TIME IS RUNNING OUT
β‘οΈ GARFIELD THEODORE IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIOREAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display challenging behavior during interactions. He is extremely intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for his mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.π₯π₯π₯π₯
A volunteer writes: Garfield Theodore sees the bigger picture, so if you see him sitting pressed up against the door with his fur going in every direction, please just know it's part of a plan. He's an extraordinarily smart guy who feels compelled to manage several projects concurrently, so Garfield Theodore has taken on shelter life with that type of understanding exuberance. He knows he has to work a little harder to stand out so he's always trying out some new moves that he hopes might impress you. Garfield Theodore's latest is a bouncy leap onto my shoulders. Making himself big and tall, he gave me a hug and then nuzzled so emphatically I couldn't help but fall in love. He did this several times with slight variations, one time putting his whole nose into my ear but I think he was just trying to ask which one I think his forever family will most like. A life of the party cat who loves to be in the mix, Garfield Theodore's looking to find an experienced cat family who will provide cat projects for him to preside over and a forever family to love. β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»

1. CALLIE - Callie (9X ON EPL AND 171 DAYS π±π±π±)- is a nervous but friendly cat who was surrendered due to a change in her owners living situation. Callie has had intermittent diarrhea, vomiting, and decreased appetite while in our care. It has been determined that Callie has infiltrative bowel disease, but the underlying cause is unknown at this time. Callie will need follow up diagnostics with an outside veterinarian to help determine the cause of her bowel disease, and will likely need medication long term to manage it. Callie has allowed all handling during their exams and did well in her previous foster home in terms of her behavior. APPETITE/EATING ISSUES IS A DEATH SENTENCE IN SHELTER. This evaluation/diagnosis means that CALLIE will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. π₯π₯π₯π₯
2. MILO - Milo is a geriatric cat with chronic kidney disease. He is also very underweight and has significant dental disease, but has been eating well in shelter and is friendly. Milo will need continued nursing care and veterinary follow-up for his medical issues. This evaluation/diagnosis means that MILO will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. π₯π₯π₯π₯
3. BUBBLES - She is a sweet, mature cat with a swollen left eye that we suspect is due to a mass or an infection. She is eating and active at this time and needs placement in a home to enjoy her senior days. This evaluation/diagnosis means that BUBBLES will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. π₯π₯π₯π₯
4. THE CHEESE KITTIES - These little ones need placement for medical reasons, several kittens in their litter tested positive for panleukopenia and declined rapidly while in care. They have been active and generally eating well, but they need continued monitoring and feedings during the panleukopenia quarantine period that are beyond that scope of what's possible in care. They need more care than we can provide. This evaluation/diagnosis means that these little ones will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. π₯π₯π₯π₯

What my friends at ACC say about me: Winter has begun warming up since his arrival in the Care Center, and while a little bit fearful and wary, he now allows petting under some conditions. He hissed when first approached with treats on the scratcher tool, but then sniffed them and began eating them, and then allowed petting with the tool. On a second approach, he hissed again, but this time sniffed the treats in the assessor's hand and began eating them and allowed petting on his head. He needs time to continue warming up. Winter tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Hi, my name is Winter and the shelter has been a little overwhelming for me. Exabyte is an otherworldly beauty with shimmering silver-blue fur and striking emerald eyes that look like they were carved from a glowing geode. πβ¨ With his angular features and intense gaze, he looks a little bit like an alien visitor - in the very best way possible. Right now, Exabyte is deeply misunderstood. Shelter life has been overwhelming for him, and he does not yet feel comfortable with petting or handling. But beneath his wary exterior is a sensitive cat who deserves the chance to decompress in a calm, low-traffic environment with a patient and compassionate person. Exabyte is seeking rescue placement with someone who understands that trust can take time, and that quiet companionship can be just as meaningful as constant affection. With stability, kindness, and space to feel safe, this extraordinary boy has every chance to thrive. For the right rescue or adopter, Exabyte won't just be a cat - he'll be a once-in-a-lifetime companion. πΈπΎ β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»

What my friends at ACC say about me: I am looking for a home with a patient person. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. Squirrel is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Because his previous owner reports he is quiet, friendly, and affectionate in a home environment, we believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet but is really struggling in the shelter environment. For a New Family to Know: Squirrel's prior owner describes him as quiet, friendly, affectionate, active and playful. He likes to be where people are so would hang out in the living room, bedroom and kitchen and would also sit in a window. He is described as playing gently and likes to chase and pounce on toys and to stalk and pounce on feet. Squirrel received interactive play approximately 20 times a month and likes to scratch on horizontal surfaces such as rough rope or carpet/fabric. In his prior home he was on a wet food only diet and preferred Sheba non pate type food -- his favorite flavors are trout or salmon. His prior owner says that Squirrel has no behavior issues and is just purrfect! β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»

β‘οΈ DABA IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.π₯π₯π₯π₯
A volunteer writes: Daba makes an adorable first impression, if not an entirely welcoming one and that's ok. I admired how he stretched his little paw out on his box like he was in mid-knead and he decided to leave it as is. Really, so cute. I said songs could be written about that paw and Daba surreptitiously rolled his eyes and tried to explain that he was busy by pretending to nap. I know very well that snuggles (and compliments) aren't always the way to someone's heart, so I quietly closed Daba's condo door to sit and read for a little bit. The Daba I met before reading and the Daba I met afterwards are almost two different cats. The next time I held my hand out, he nuzzled into me and looked for more pets. This makes a little sense because in his previous home Daba was friendly and outgoing with people and other cats. There are times he likes to take a moment or so to warm up, which we see at the shelter, but we're so sure that after a little time, a lot of patience and love, Daba will become the sparkly young cat he's meant to become. Daba tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»
