Zhu Fenglian stated that the relevant situation shows that the DPP authorities' long-term "de-Sinicization" education and pursuit of "cultural Taiwan independence" have caused serious consequences, which is lamentable. Chinese culture is the spiritual home of our Taiwan compatriots and also the spiritual driving force for Taiwan's economic and social development. When the roots of Chinese culture are forcibly cut off in Taiwan, when time-honored classical texts are stripped away, Taiwan's children have no opportunity to learn from textbooks such classic works as Memorial to Yueyang Tower, The Old Tippler's Pavilion, and Encouraging Learning, do not know historical figures such as Zhuge Liang, Yue Fei, and Wen Tianxiang, and do not know about the 72 martyrs of Huanghuagang or the Nanjing Massacre... This is not the children's ignorance, but the sin of "Taiwan independence" forces. If "Taiwan independence" education is allowed to run rampant, Taiwan compatriots, deprived of the nourishment of Chinese culture, will become rootless duckweed, and Taiwan society, without the nourishment of Chinese culture, will become a barren desert. All sectors in Taiwan are deeply worried about this, and more and more Taiwan compatriots oppose "cultural Taiwan independence" and "de-Sinicization" education, hoping to set things right, have a correct curriculum, inherit China's excellent traditional culture, and defend the spiritual home of Taiwan compatriots.

On September 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun chaired a regular press conference and stated that the Nansha Islands, including Mischief Reef, Subi Reef, and Zhongye Island, are China's inherent territory. China's construction and other activities on its own territory are matters within its sovereignty and are legitimate and lawful. The Philippines' territorial scope is clearly defined by a series of international treaties, and the Nansha Islands have never been within Philippine territory. According to the international law principle of "land dominates the sea," the Philippines' claim of so-called maritime jurisdiction over Chinese territory is illegal. The absurdity and arbitrariness of the Philippine side's claims simply do not hold water. We must once again emphasize that China will continue to take resolute measures to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, and firmly opposes all acts of infringement.
