New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he opposes a right-wing Hindu nationalist event scheduled for next week at Madison Square Garden.
He says the group, closely linked to India’s ruling BJP party, has an “exclusionary vision”.
@dimitrovhimself All I've read from Cosmonaut was some very well researched historical articles aren't so defensive online. I think its very funny for any leftist sect to accuse another of model unism tho lol.
Real heads remember the original Foreign Exchanges podcast when it was just Derek Davison and usually Alex Thurston. I used to cut lawns and listen to it a lot its very nostalgic to me for some reason.
Weeks after proposing a nearly million-dollar cut to Veterans’ services, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu held a Somali flag-raising ceremony at City Hall
Propping up Somalis while diminishing our veterans.
Disgusting traitor
Pursuing plunder & profit is as old as humanity. But perhaps this caused colonialism? NOPE. They were NOT as a whole driven by capitalist modes of production.
ONLY LENIN and his band of morons thought this, and they were empirically VERY WRONG.
As Michael Mann puts it:
“There was no capital surplus. … Only a few colonies in this period were established because of specifically capitalist pressure; few were seen as good export markets; and colonial expansion in the late nineteenth century did not pay its way for any country. … [T]he new imperialism in Britain was not caused by need to export capital”
Even Marxist scholars like Benno Teschke recognize that Lenin’s theory was wrong:
“Capital exports to the colonial periphery, although rising sharply before the First World War, were significantly lower than capital exports (both portfolio and direct investments) between imperialist powers. Inter-imperial volumes of trade were significantly higher than imperial-colonial commerce. Colonial capital exports were small in absolute terms relative to domestic investments. Rates of return from colonial capital exports were not higher relative to the rates from domestic investment, yet subject to higher risks.”
@mitai__@_The_Wub_ That's really the only section that goes into it and even then there aren't specifics about civilian killings iirc. The second half is basically just some very compelling domestic true crime stories.
