We can't hide the facts. Jammu contributes more to J&K's own tax revenue because of its industrial base. Although industry has a smaller share of GSDP than the services sector, it contributes significantly more to the state's own tax revenue than tourism alone...
While there's an ongoing debate over which sector contributes more to J&K's own revenue receipts agriculture or tourism,let's settle it with facts and data.

On the other hand, manufacturing and tourism (part of the services sector) are major sources of the state's own tax revenue.
Hotels, restaurants, cafés, tour & travel operators, and many other businesses generate SGST and other state revenues.

Now ask yourself: a sector employing nearly 70% of the population and contributing 20% to J&K's GSDP,where does it contribute to the state's own tax revenue?
Where they pay GST or income tax ?
Agriculture's direct contribution to J&K's own tax revenue is minimal.
Almost 0 ++
Now, let's look at the state's own non-tax revenue. This is income that doesn't come from taxes. It mainly includes electricity and water charges, rents, fees, royalties, penalties, and other government receipts.
State's own non-tax revenue: ₹11,100 crore B.E
Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. It provides employment to nearly 70% of the population and contributes about 20% to J&K's GSDP,roughly ₹63,164 crore.
In comparison, the manufacturing sector contributes 19%, while the services sector contributes 61% of the GSDP. +++
