There are things I like about #bbc3's #chineseburn, starring its script writers, based on real life exp, taking influence from not just #British but #Chinese#comedy traditions.Caustic humour brings out everyday casual #racism to which overseas Chinese seem particular susceptible
You could read all 368 pages of Edward Said's 1978 classic 'Orientalism' or you could watch the 22 minute pilot of @ChineseBurnTV. Both carry the same argument but the latter has jokes. Very funny jokes. Please commission a whole series @BBCOne@bbcthree
@yuyurau @MayKwanTow@BBCOne I’ve only seen it like 20 odd times already but I’ll watch it again tonight 😊 I know the show has polarised opinion but I for one, am pleased that Chinese people finally have a voice instead of putting us into the Asian category which has happened in the last few years.
Watch as I stab my directorial chopsticks into this trio of prawn crackers. Delivered straight to your door on iplayer. The restaurant owners are @ChineseBurnTV The waiter was @lovelybigal, @AshAtalla was one of those really annoying customers.

@bbcthree I hope the women at @ChineseBurnTV are well-supported, aren't being cynically developed and aren't being silenced in decision making contexts. It's got a way to go for it to be my favourite show but I recognise their wants & their energy. Power to you.
