I went to a wake recently and came across this poster.

The funeral home offering an AI service that “reunites” you with the departed.
A video tribute built from old photos, voice samples, and a digital human avatar.
Price tag: RM2,000.

Some people might see it as a final gift.
A moment stitched from memories, recordings, and familiar voices.
A chance to hear one last message — even if it’s generated, not spoken.

Others might feel the opposite.
That it crosses a line.
That it turns grief into something uncanny, or worse, commercial.

To me, it’s a razor‑thin boundary they're navigating.
Handled with care, it could be tender, respectful, even healing.
Handled poorly, it becomes eerie, artificial, and wrong.
