There is, no doubt, higher paid jobs for SOME young people, but the fact is, there are many employers who will pay minimum wage. Expecting young people to save enough to buy a house on that, is absurd and frankly laughable!

Then take in to account paying for driving lessons once they’re 17, which is on average £23 a week, and having some extra money to have a life. On top of the study they’re doing, even when they reach 18, minimum wage only goes up

Minimum wage for under 18 is £4.62 an hour, they’re also legally required to stay in some form of education until they’re 18 now, so they have to work.. cntd

@jurgenschmidt0 @StormHuntley @JeremyVineOn5 That would be be £13,000. Which is not a decent deposit at all for some areas in the country. Add on the fees of buying and essential costs of living - that’s not enough at all. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@loosewomen I came back to work 4 weeks ago, my baby is 8 weeks old. I’m a self employed beauty therapist and I felt pressure from everyone to return. Covid hasn’t helped that as I’ve been out of work. I desperately miss the hours I can’t spend with my daughter, but needs must.

@Simon4NDorset @BootsUK ‘Who can afford to close for lunch?’ Perhaps the staff who are working 9 hour days, 6 days a week. Legally, they are entitled to a break & that includes the pharmacist. Legally, the pharmacy can not operate without a pharmacist present. So yes, closing for lunch is necessary 🤦🏻‍♀️
