One thing Nigerian politics has taught me is that political loyalty can become more powerful than political ideology. A person can watch a policy fail, see the consequences in their own community, complain about the same problems every day, and still defend the political party responsible for the government in power because abandoning the party feels like abandoning their side. That is when politics becomes less about governance and more about identity. The moment citizens start seeing criticism of a government as an attack on their political tribe, accountability becomes almost impossible.
By the way my rule in life is I do not voluntarily participate in my own suffering. And I will ditch anything that tries to make me a willing participant in my own suffering. If I can't exit immediately, just know I'm planning my exit and I will exit at some point.
And when the topic is about supportive mothers who would do absolutely anything and make sacrifices for their children, I will scream my mother’s name from the rooftops!!!!!!
