🇫🇷 80 years ago today, 25-Year old Resistance member Jean-Paul Léri, was shot by the German authorities at the sinister Montluc prison in Lyon. Today we remember this patriot who gave his all for his country. 1/6

SS-Obersturmbannführer Bruno Müller leads Sonderaktion Krakau against Polish intellectuals. Müller orders a meeting of university professors and academics which is in fact a pretext to round them up. 184 are arrested, mainly from Poland's oldest faculty, Jagiellonian University. They are sent to Sachsenhausen and Dachau, but most (non-Jewish) will be released in 1940 following an outcry that includes the Vatican and Mussolini. Many of the released professors go on to set up an underground university, attended by Karol Wojtyła, who will become Pope John Paul II.

@crawleytown Easy words now, but where were the stewards, firstly allowing smoke canisters in, secondly not ready for them being thrown? Happens most games, it’s not credible blasting out words without banning the morons that throw these and cans onto the pitch. @crawleytown TAKE ACTION
