The Inclusive Speech Technology Innovation Sprint Demo Day showcased how ASR technologies can be adapted to recognize non-standard speech in local Ugandan languages, bringing us closer to a more inclusive future for persons with speech impairments.

According to the final report of the National Population and Housing Census by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, 184,991 people in Uganda live with communication or speech impairments.

@TUWAYEAI bridges this gap by leveraging artificial intelligence to make speech therapy more affordable and scalable. Through AI-powered assessments, personalized daily exercises, and remote support, the platform delivers continuous, guided practice directly to users especially in underserved communities where access to specialists is limited.

By breaking down these barriers, Tuwaye AI empowers individuals to build confidence, communicate more effectively, and fully participate in education, work, and social life.
