@Mattimer_ It is an unfortunate reality that jobs in the heritage sector are already oversubscribed, especially lower down the pecking order. For me, I may have to leave the sector for a time or risk losing my current home and moving back in with the parents.
The bailout of slave owners of £20m was 40% of total expenditure when it happened in 1833 and was only paid off in 2015. I didn’t learn about this bailout at school but when I did the podcast on it a year ago👇. We need to teach our history in schools.

@CrouchingPeeky@I_W_M You could try looking him up in his regiment's dispatches, or any regimental history. That is the only other place than the citation you have posted. Unfortunately many men and women stayed silent about their wartime experiences.
