One thing I’ve noticed:
People will sometimes reveal their deepest truths to someone they’ve known for an hour, while hiding those same truths from people they’ve known for years.
Why do you think that happens?
@SW_ON_CHAIN That’s a perspective we haven’t really touched on yet. Sometimes the fear isn’t being judged—it’s losing control of where the information goes next.
Confession:
Most of my Substack articles are just me trying to figure myself out in public.
This week’s topic was asking for what we need.
What’s a skill or lesson that took you way too long to learn?
@adrenjnky1013 Oh my God, these are gorgeous. If you took these yourself, you have a fantastic eye for photography. The lighting and reflections make the whole scene feel cinematic.
@adrenjnky1013 Happy birthday! A yearly cold plunge sounds like a pretty epic tradition. How refreshing is it, really? I’ve heard people swear by the mental health benefits, but I’ve never been brave enough to try one myself.
@ChloeKMontclair I once read comment by a provider how she took pride in countless number of “johns” baited, hooked, gutted, and left ghosted in a skeleton 💀 closet. Like eating your own. That is a “Wicked Game” by Lusaint. There are many providing a disservice to this profession without care.
@Tomcatt54 Oh wow, I hate hearing that. The strange thing is that it doesn’t even seem like a smart long-term approach. If someone has been kind, respectful, and consistent, why would you want to damage that trust? It seems like honesty would be better for everyone involved.
@Tomcatt54 I’m sorry that happened to you. Experiences like that can make vulnerability feel a lot riskier. I hope you’ve been able to find people who handle your trust with more care.
