The U.S. is turning up the economic pressure on Iran while keeping the threat of military force on the table.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced “Operation Economic Outcast,” a sweeping new sanctions push aimed at isolating the Iranian regime and squeezing key sources of revenue.

The sanctions target everything from gold and technology to aviation and shipping, also hitting nearly 60 entities, individuals, and vessels across multiple jurisdictions as Iran threatens retaliation.

President Trump just scored a major Supreme Court victory on mail-in voting ahead of the midterms.

In a 6-3 decision, the justices are allowing the administration to move forward, at least for now, with key parts of Trump’s March executive order after they were blocked by a lower court.

The order calls for the federal government to create lists of voters eligible to receive federal ballots and requires states to provide information allowing the Postal Service to verify their eligibility.

BREAKING: The Department of War has released the identity of a third U.S. service member believed to have been killed in the Iranian attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

Officials identified the soldier as Sgt. Angel Rampersad, 28, who had previously been listed as missing following the July 17 attack.

She was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52d Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany, and served as a 25U Signal Operations Support Specialist.

The Black Sea is turning into a Ukrainian hunting ground, and the Kremlin's shadow fleet is learning the hard way what happens when you ignore a nation that refuses to die. We have now hit 159 vessels in just twelve days of this expanded campaign. That is not a lucky streak. That is systematic degradation of Moscow's maritime logistics, moving from the Azov Sea where 116 targets were struck, forcing survivors to crawl up the Don River like rats, and now shifting south of the Kerch Strait to the heavier tankers that matter more.

Satellite imagery from early July already showed the choke point clogged with roughly 100 ships north and 100 south. After the Azov phase, traffic there collapsed. By the 15th we pivoted to the real prizes. Another 42 vessels damaged in the Black Sea proper. The latest FPV footage reveals terminal guidance improvements that make these strikes even more precise. Moscow's own border patrol ship Izumrud, veteran of the 2018 Kerch ram job against our sailors, now sits with a fatal hole in its hull near Novorossiysk. Twenty to zero in this naval exchange so far, and the ratio is not flipping anytime soon.

The downstream effects are brutal for them. Up to 30 percent of Russian grain moved by water through Rostov oblast. That route is functionally dead, forcing rerouting onto rail and roads that already scream for scarce diesel. Novorossiysk handled around 20 percent of crude oil exports. We are not necessarily sinking every tanker outright, but months-long repairs on 159 hulls create the same outcome: paralyzed throughput. Kremlin propagandists are already howling about piracy while their tankers burn. Same script as always. They violate international waters, steal Ukrainian grain, ferry fuel to occupied Crimea, and then cry when the bill arrives in the form of Ukrainian sea drones.

This is exactly why control of the Black Sea is not some abstract naval fetish. It directly starves the Crimean garrison of fuel, slices Moscow's export revenues, and forces them to burn more resources on overland logistics they cannot sustain at scale. Expect them to lash out at our vessels near Odesa. That reaction was predictable because their doctrine has always been to punish civilians when their military fails. It will not reverse the trend. Every additional stricken tanker tightens the noose.

The deeper strategic point is that hybrid war cuts both ways. For years the Kremlin used energy blackmail, shadow fleets, and information operations to keep Europe complacent. Now a country they claimed would fall in three days is dictating sea lanes in their own backyard. This is what happens when you treat an imperial project as a legitimate state instead of the existential threat it has always been. Sanctions alone never achieved this. Persistent, innovative Ukrainian strikes do.

The situation for them will only worsen. Their "partners" in Tehran, Pyongyang, and Beijing are watching how quickly a determined defender with cheap drones can dismantle expensive logistical arteries. Moscow's information war machine will scream louder, their useful idiots in the West will call for another fake ceasefire, but the math is relentless. You cannot occupy another country, run a shadow fleet, and expect the victim to simply absorb it.

This campaign is restoring deterrence the only way that works against empires: by raising their costs until the policy becomes unsustainable. Ukraine is not asking permission. We are taking back control, one burning tanker at a time.
