Patients die because lack of access to healthcare. Waiting lists are showing statistics only for patients who were accepted to see a specialists or have surgery. What about patients who didn’t even get on the list because GP’s referral was declined!

@kootenaysdoc Doctors won’t be able to hire own NPs or RNs out of this amount and create their own PCNs to address local communities needs. Still dependent on MoH designed PCNs and TBC. No thank you! Will not attract me back to BC!

Wow. That is both highly creative thinking on the patient’s part and a true testament to the incredible role that family docs play in a patient’s live. Sadly, it’s also a heart wrenching indicator of how desperate people in BC are.

Health care is in crisis and we need urgent change. There are simple things we can do to improve access and care. Below are ten things I would like to see implemented. I’m so frustrated with how much patients are suffering. Every single day it gets worse. It doesn’t have to.

There is an expectation from patients and the system/government that doctors sacrifice their life and family. This needs to change. Everyone deserves work-life balance regardless if they are FDs or specialists.
