Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang hosted the organizers of Tincity Fashion Week, led by Christabel Bentu, at the New Government House in Rayfield.

The Governor expressed strong support for initiatives that promote local fabrics and elevate them on the global fashion stage.

He praised the initiative, noting it aligns with his vision to highlight Plateau’s cultural heritage and boost tourism. "It's encouraging to see our local fabrics gaining recognition nationally and internationally.

This initiative not only celebrates our heritage but can also drive economic growth through tourism," he said.

Governor Mutfwang also announced that December 2024 will be designated as Tourism Month in Plateau, kicking off with the Plateau Unity Christmas Carol and Praise on November 29, followed by various events to showcase the state's cultural and economic potential.

Highlighting the improved security situation, the Governor assured that Plateau is now one of the safest regions in Northern Nigeria. "Jos is a model of peace and stability, as seen in the successful hosting of national events like the 2024 Nigerian Army Day and the Nigeria Immigration Service Annual Meeting," he added.

Christabel Bentu, speaking on behalf of the Tincity Fashion Week team, shared that the initiative, started four years ago, aims to put local fabrics on the national and global fashion map. She appealed for the Governor's continued support to further grow the fashion industry in the state.

In my time in government, I’ve seen enough to reinforce my belief that a technologically savvy and empowered workforce is critical for the development of a more efficient and effective government. Today, together with over 400 civil servants working in technology, we held the inaugural #DevsInGovernment community gathering.

The quality of the conversations and engagement, renewed my hope in the commitment and dedication of our technical workforce to work for the greater good as we invest in and build our Digital Public Infrastructure.

#DevsInGovernment is a platform that will allow the civil servants who run technology in government collaborate, share constraints, access resources as well as build solutions, and at today’s event we already saw examples of this coming to life.

From examples of challenges faced while collecting data for national planning, to questions on how to encourage colleagues with novel ideas to explore, build and implement them for our collective prosperity.

This is the start of a re-energisation and upliftment of the technical workforce in government with a broader goal of impacting how we serve our citizens. Meet the Nigerian girl, Nasara James Dabo, a 13-year-old prodigy from Southern Kaduna State with an IQ that sits amongst the top 1% globally.

At the International Mathematical Olympiad, she solved 34 math problems in just 172 seconds, (an average of 5 secs per question) winning a gold medal in the junior category.

Nasara, who is a student at Ideal College International in Kaduna, outshone 150 competitors worldwide, securing a total score of 145. Along with the gold medal, Nasara earned the Olympiad champion title in the prestigious competition that gathers participants from over 100 countries.

Shortly after her IMO victory, Nasara took the Mensa IQ test and aced it under strict supervision. Her IQ score of 150 puts her in the top 1% globally among Mensa applicants.

Additionally, Nasara recently bagged a LIMCA Award for memorizing a whopping 673 binary numbers in less than 9 minutes at the Memory Championship by Mind Sports Olympiad.

After bringing great honor to her community, Nasara, who dreams of becoming a doctor, has been offered a scholarship by the Kaduna State government to cover her secondary and university education expenses.

Nasara is such a motivation for young people.

That's true. Admissions committees sometimes expect to read about how you excelled academically despite having encountered unusual circumstances.
