Now that the temporary euphoria over the "Detty December Economy" is over, I think I can now point out that it is an absolute travesty that the most significant economic activity in Africa's largest city is not what business happens among its 21 million people, but an annual diaspora pilgrimage that happens for 2 weeks at the end of the year.
You people are witnessing Nigeria shrinking in economic importance and potential, and you're busy celebrating it because shortlets on Victoria Island were fully occupied for 2 weeks. That's the big genius plan for Nigeria's economic salvation? Positioning Lagos as the expensive trenches Zanzibar for the Nigerian diaspora? The economic potential of Africa's largest city should be reduced to becoming a Christmas party island?
The plan is not to ease and accelerate the economic interactions that take place among 21 million people in a densely packed city twice the size of New York? The plan is rather to copy Accra and gentrify everything out of the reach of the 21 million human beings that live in Lagos full time?

She faced obstacles to get here. She was bullied & chased out of South Africa
But she never gave up. She went back to Nigeria, & became Miss Universe Nigeria
In Mexico, she finished as 1st Runner up Miss Universe 2024. Chidimma is now the story of victory, how underdogs can win

You may find the tribal tweets ridiculous, but that's what they are: ridiculous
Men who should be out and about making money to take off their families are talking about egusi soup in 2024
Can you not see this is juju? Has your destiny not been stolen as you talk about tribe while other children learn to code?
Name one wealthy mans, son, or daughter that is preaching the bigotry you poor twat are preaching
Even Bayo Onanuga, do his kids tweet bigotry?

Abians are celebrating bcos “one lady” insisted their votes must count. Governance requires the barest minimum. Nigerians don’t need AI & Space Mission yet. Just do roads, hospitals, schools, & provide security. Pay salaries, pensions & gratuities. Is that a rocket science?

This man was the DG of the Nigerian Law School.
Think of that.
He spent years studying as a law student, then became a lawyer, worked as an academic and then rose to the rank of a professor, until he took the role of the top legal educator in the country.
Then he was politically savvy and his qualifications recognised enough to be appointed the minister of education. By all indications, a seemingly profound purveyor of education and scholarship.
And yet his most critical idea, his great contribution, his big vision from his decades of academic rigour is: “We need to stop people from going to school too early”.
The kind of reasoning about social problems you hear at the barbershop from the local philosopher who stops you for some beer money: totally devoid of root cause analysis, disengaged from contextual situationing, unbothered by the exceptions of genius and prodigy, and unencumbered by statistics or sociological research.
This is the same level of mental effort that concludes that a reversal of the national anthem to an older version will revive the country’s glory days.
Nigeria is failed daily by its leaders.
