Adding 5,023 MBBS seats sounds good, but in a country of 1.5 billion, it’s barely a drop in the ocean.
India faces a severe shortage of doctors, especially in rural areas.
Incremental increases like this won’t fix the systemic gaps in healthcare infrastructure, medical colleges, or specialist availability. Real reforms are long overdue.

Union Cabinet has approved 5,000 new PG seats and 5,023 MBBS seats.
On paper it looks like progress.
But every doctor knows the truth-
No new hospitals or ICUs
Jobs already shrinking
PG bottleneck still choking careers
We're creating more doctors without creating spaces to train, practice, or serve.
And the bigger question is-
What's the point of expansion if the system can't even absorb the doctors we already have?
