St. Dmitry Donskoy (1350–1389) was Grand Prince of Moscow and one of medieval Russia’s most important rulers. He:

• led the Russian forces to victory over the Mongol-Tatar army at the Battle of Kulikovo in 1380
• strengthened Moscow and helped unite the Russian lands
• was a patron of the Orthodox Church and closely associated with St. Sergius of Radonezh
