Choyce Diffey ( @ChoyceDiffey ) ran it up to 95 & showed good feel for his off-speed. The 23 year old is coming off his 1st pro season where he was an All-Star in the USPBL (and ran it up to 97). He’s still new to pitching and getting better & better 📈

You’ll notice a ton of different arm slots and body types, but what’s in common among hard throwers?
Generally:
-Arms relatively on time at landing
-Trunk closed, pelvis clearing at landing
-Trunk leading the way, arm pulling from behind
-Arm unwinding in plane, passing through ~180 degrees of layback
-Explosive trunk rotation and decel
-Grunting
Yes, most of the guys in this clip are also >200lbs with intermediate or higher strength levels.
The less efficient guys tend to make up for this with more mass and/or longer levers.
The more efficient guys can get away with being a touch smaller and/or having slightly shorter levers.
When the work matches the established environment, good things happen.
@ChoyceDiffey, @UTMBase alum, now sits mid-90s, has touched 97, and threw a 5-inning no-hitter in July.
Hear how the @USPBL fueled his development this summer below.

The best outing of @ChoyceDiffey’s young career just went down in the @uspbl — 5 no-hit innings.
Topped 97 MPH, sat 95 with 15.3” IVB and 12.3” HB on the heater.
Also debuted a sweeper at 84.5 MPH, 2650 RPM, -4.2 IVB, -15.5 HB.
Big-time.

22 years old, explosive arm, D1 experience.
At UT-Martin: 9.22 ERA, 67.1 IP, 51 BB, 14 HBP. Sat low 90s, touched mid-90s.
The upside was real, he just needed a plan.
That’s where the USPBL came in (1/🧵)

Extremely thankful for my time at Mizzou. With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal as a grad student with one year of eligibility remaining. Meridian CC and Mizzou alum. Open to any and all opportunities!
