Really liked this short sequence from Aston Villa against Man City. With the key aspects here being the cover the Villains gave each other and how they dealt with a free man.

Scene Analysis:
I watched #ARSBHA yesterday and wanted to quickly break down two brilliant sequences, which demonstrate how the Gunners exploited Brighton’s man-oriented defensive approach.
[THREAD]
Nketiah receives in immense space, created by Havertz’ movement dragging Dunk away. Dunk then quickly moves inside to cover the middle, but Arsenal again outplay this little 2v1 with Nketiah finding Havertz in behind, who ends up scoring.
However, Odegaard doesn’t play the German in behind but rather outplays the 2v1 against Van Hecke. The Norwegian’s dribble pins Van Hecke and Nketiah can easily dismark himself by moving inside.
Beautiful little sequence by Leverkusen: passing backwards to push the defence forward and eventually slicing through with a pass/run in the opposite direction of the defense's collective movement.

This thread breaks down City’s mechanisms to advance through the thirds and eventually generate chances in the derby.
