Another fake foreign-run Anthony Albanese page that has been unearthed by IPA and Libertarian Exposed page on facebook and Linda Ashton.

The page is approximately 6 months old and already has 29k members, some of whom I know that may have originally been sucked into the fake-page vortex by friends to follow or are in it for the trolling and the angst.

The site has an incredible number of members whose accounts originate from overseas. These overseas members push the commentary and engagement.

Yesterday the page had 287 new posts, 2535 new comments, 5641 reactions. The site had 111.3k comments in the last 28 days - many of these are generated from these overseas accounts to drive engagement with others.

The posts mainly consist of simple yes and no questions and drive rage baiting and angertainment systemically daily. Between the amount of overseas admins and the amount of overseas members, they are able to keep on pushing content 24/7 that engages the algorithm that keeps the levels of exposure and reactivity high. There are an insurmountable number of other fake pages on facebook doing the same thing. The more engagement these pages receive, the more the overseas instigators are rewarded for it. They don’t necessarily believe anything they are posting. They are given templates and information to pump out misinformation, AI, rage bait and to keep pushing engagement with the original posts.

As you can see from the snapshot of admins and moderators -they are all foreign. I checked the site and not one lives in this country. The admin and moderator list is larger than is shown here.

They are completely invested in getting this online misinformation seen by as many people as possible. Now imagine that one page times 1000. Which is likely a conservative estimate. The damage that is being done by misinformation is immense.

So… who’s driving that bus?

Professor Peter Macdonald, a renowned cardiologist to deliver the inaugural Dr. Adnan Al-Bursh Memorial Lecture on his work with Indigenous communities and in heart transplantation.

Afterwards, there's a panel chaired by Alice Eggleston featuring Dr Ruth Mitchell, Nick Hanna and Dr Sarah Abdo, on speaking out when it matters most. Whilst the panel and lecture have strong healthcare links, the material will be accessible to all.

All proceeds go to the Civil Liberties Defence Centre, Palestinian Children's Relief Fund and Condoblin Aboriginal Health Service.
