@byHeatherLong Oh no, we can’t have a strong economy, that would be bad! I guess the purpose of the fed is making sure the economy sputters, combined by whatever policy will most hurt Trump.
Enhancement Request: There should be an immediate and automatic community note generation process stating and ignore algorithm for anyone whose linked in tells us they work for an NGO (append a community note that says something like "the views expressed in this post was written by someone likely mentally impaired and employed in fraudulent funny business (or at least is paid for doing so as a useful idiot)." Something along those lines should work. Call it the Total NGO'er Envious Idiot Communism enhancement.
Here is clear evidence that, besides the clear evidence of race based differences in IQ, that within each race, there are exceptions of large standard deviations from the generalization; such as here where clearly William falls at least two standard deviations below whatever the hell race he is.
Well, yes they do. As stated by others, people who want to act rich spend stupid money on cars cooler than Toyotas to seek status. Those who don’t need to impress, don’t care. I happily drive a Tundra. If that makes someone think I don’t have real money well, 1) I don’t give a sh@$, and 2) it’s the kind of person I would dislike anyway. Money may not buy class, but cars sure AF don’t make you cool or rich. I get some love cars, and if they can afford lambos and Bugatti’s, awesome. I used to love cars that way. But, now I just want theTundra 1784 that I have as it checks every box that I wanted, regardless that I could have something higher end if I wanted. Anyone buying cars for status, they are idiots. Most people who get and stay wealthy are not idiots (certainly too many are, I admit!).
Fair point Richard, and that sacrifice was HUGE, and should be massively respected. It’s unfortunate that Bush and Co were such liars and deviated from what the GWOT should have been. As for the state of the world young folks have to deal with, there is much blame to go around across every generation, nearly always has been. Generalizations often have some validity, but nearly every generation in history the older folks though the younger folks were lazy and essentially dumb in their choices, and the younger folks though the older folks were, well, old and therefore to blame for all their woes and the ills of the world. And I assure you, the very people that rip on boomers will themselves be ripped on by their subsequent generations. The reality is things, however bad they are for younger folks, is not unique in history. Hell, just in the last 100 years… try being in your 20’s in the 1930s or 1940s; or for that matter the late 60s and 70s. Not to mention throughout world history. At some point, the younger generations will have the power to try to solve the ills of the world, and like all previous generations, they will get some stuff right and some stuff wrong. And they themselves will realize time spent whining, let alone idealizing crazy DSA type silliness, was wasted time and, often, misguided and inaccurate.
Respectfully, poor advice for most (or, at least, many) people. There are millions of opportunities and life affirming, joy inducing locations that 20 something’s can choose from. Who they are, what they dream of, and what is important to them should drive, if they have a choice, of where they live. London, Paris, NYC and SF may offer a ton for certain people, they are a complete drag and hell for many others.
Obvious example: Someone who loves nature and dreams of being a park ranger in Yellowstone, would be miserable in those cities. Are you saying they are not ambitious or successful? Maybe they don’t need to be surrounded by twenty other people validating their awesomeness. Are they just mere provincials to look down on? Or, perhaps, they are as smart and motivated as you. It may be that they just hate crime, whack job policies, constant over stimulation and an over-abundance of egoism about thinking one is cool or made it because they live in a 700 sq ft hovel in a certain zip code.
Perhaps they don’t need others to get clarity on what their life purpose is. Wayward at 24, no clue what you want to do… guess what, too late for 99% of you and being a non entity in a city of millions will not help you find yourself and wake up successful; the great mass of such people will be anonymous cogs in a wheel they don’t understand let alone control, and will find themselves at a DSA rally because clearly it is not their fault that they are not making it in the world. They should have listened to their parents (or some wise adults in their life), worked hard, studied hard, figured out earlier what life path they wanted so they hit their early twenties on a path they were consciously driving to and preparing for. Partying, getting through school as an AI cheat, or otherwise acting 16 until you are 24, will not have a good outcome for most, and being in such cities is not going to save their ass in most cases, rather the city will bury you. They likely would have been much better off in a smaller town where reality and accountability are more broadly accepted.
Outside of the top few percentile, cities are not made up of people who get ambition magically embedded within them simply by being there. And certainly they do not suddenly get intelligent simply due to moving there. Even for the few that get such ambition by the energy of being there, ambition without intelligence is no better than having intelligence but no ambition. People with ambition and intelligence have inherent ambition and intelligence as their prime mover and go where that ambition and intelligence leads them. Anyone who lacks those attributes and thinks that they will magically gain those attributes simply by moving to one of those cities demonstrates by such thinking why they are not and will not be successful. Ambitious, intelligent people succeed not because of where they live, they would succeed anywhere. They understand that happiness is the variable that they should prioritize and so they make choices, including where they choose to live, based on maximizing their chances of happiness based on what brings them joy and fulfillment. Thinking that if I only lived in NYC, I would, via osmosis, get perfect clarity on what I want to do, be successfully ambitious at such newly found purpose, and subsequently have a life of unmitigated city bliss happiness sounds like someone desperately trying to talk themself into believing their quiet life of anonymous desperation really isn’t all that bad.
Don’t get me wrong. What you suggest may be the right path for some. The history of such cities is a history of being a positive magnet for many. And certainly some, perhaps many, have a great, successful and happy lives in these cities. Just remember the GREAT mass of such do not end up thriving and never accomplish what they thought moving to such a city would bequest them; many end up stuck and miserable. Don’t confuse the cause and effect.
Actually, we gen x’ers had it best. I won’t rewrite, it was awesome, despite none of what goes for conveniences of today. Unfortunately idiot non-gen x’ers voted for crap that ruined that world, and you young folk, who seem to have skipped history class, appear to believe socialism/communism is cool and will solve your problems, good luck with that.
What a bs post. All they need to do is override the parliamentarian. The left would do that in a second flat. Thune does nothing, no talking filibuster, no whipping votes, no forcing it through, no firing the parliamentarian. There is no defense of him that holds water. He is a Democrat in RINO clothing, protecting the uniparty. The ‘republicans’ in the senate, if they were serious, could get this done, they could replace Thune, they could stay in session, they could quit having pro forma sessions, they could do a hundred things. But they don’t. And for everyone who says “true but my favorite Senator supports SAVE and all these other great things.” Yes, BS, they say what you want to hear but they do NOTHING to actually make it happen. Everyone of them could grind the senate to an absolute halt if they wanted; they have the ability to force… yet, they don’t. Wake up.
@JohnJHarwood@elonmusk@raelbrav It’s not 2019 dumbass. Those tropes are meaningless and not only don’t stick, they just push more people to recognizing how hallow, dumb, ignorant and detached from reality you virtue signaling morons are.
As mentioned on another thread, BS. You are mistaking a credential for an education. A large percent of that is worthless degrees, as clearly demonstrated by what the market is willing to pay, and that is for the percentage who actually get a job. A degree in grievance social sciences for instance, is not education. It’s worthless stupidity. Scratch the surface at most universities these days and you’d struggle to find many students (or professors for that matter) that have any clue of factual history, great art and literature that formed the world we live in, etc. Don’t mistake credentials for education. Nor mistake a degree, in most cases, as an accomplishment that the market cares about. A huge percentage of credentialed people would have either not been accepted some decades ago simply due to not being smart enough, and even those that would have been accepted, many would struggle to get through, or get through with more than a 2.1 gpa if universities had half the rigor of decades past.
‘Educated’ lol. A large percent of that is worthless degrees, as clearly demonstrated by what the market is willing to pay, and that is for the percentage who actually get a job. Of course you would think so; it’s horrible and has very little to do with Homer’s classic. And funny how the same idiots who believe political polls months prior to elections, pretending they are anything but influence operations, do the same with Rotten Tomatoes when it comes to a film like this which has to succeed so the left and idiots like Erickson can point to something to help save Hollywood’s stupid film and casting choices, somehow thinking it’s a poke in the eye of MAGA, not caring that what he is really doing is supporting continued cultural degeneration.
@EWErickson Do you actually give a F that it was fraudulent, can you be honest enough to see the actual evidence and do and say the right thing? If you think that, despite what will be clear evidence, Trump should not act of speak on it, then— well— you suck even more than we all knew.
Damn, talk about a sudden campaign by the last remnants of the Bill Kristol school of dipshits who still dream of a world in which more than 127 people give a crap about what they say. Haley has zero chance, deservedly so. She is a corrupt, war mongering, lying, incompetent, deep state loving stooge.
Yes, you do. But, thanks to the stupid 17th amendment, since all 100 Senators think of themselves as mini Presidents and a uniparty club that exists not to represent their state but to foist themselves on the rest of us doing whatever the uniparty tells them to, we all have a vested interest and strong opinions. Deep red states in the Trump era, like SC, SD, Tennessee and Kentucky, for instance, would not send Haley’s, Thune’s, Tillis’s and McConnell’s if the people actually had fully free say without the corrupt NRSC putting its fat RINO thumb on the scale.
