.@FreedomWorks @StephenMoore The #Fed is charged with creating bubbles. They are charged with popping bubbles. Popping bubbles are recessions. The problem is NOT that they are now trying to pop the bubble. The problem is the bubble they've already created that must now be popped.
From 11:30 to 4:00 ET, the Nasdaq staged one of the most impressive rallies of the year. It looks like the rally got some legs on comments made by Leon Cooperman on CNBC. He basically said, "The world has not ended."
Remember when the global righteous, after losing Brexit and then the White House, decided to make sure that kind of populism was arrested? And they clamored for the defeat of LePen in the French elections and backed the dreamy Macron, a.k.a "the French Beto"? Surprise!!! 👇
@ChloeAnagnos Had you heard of Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 4 years ago? Is that not an uptrend in socialism? Who are the new free market superstars over the same time period? Right. That was a great thread about your family Chloe. Thanks for sharing.
IMF's Christine Lagarde (@Lagarde) was just on @CNBC saying that her interpretation of recent Fed-speak was that they would slow down the rate hikes. Does she have inside info? I don't know. But it didn't really help the market much. It should have.
@danmsnyder @Richzeoli@ChrisStigall Great article, Dan. Thank you. So, are the tariffs w/China an attempt to correct perceived imbalances, or is it a punitive effort aimed at curbing Chinese power - both economic & military? The answer goes a long way to determining if a deal is possible.
@DonaldDDurham I think it is a problem for some sectors. It's not for others. The real tariff threat though is that it's come at a time where global trade was already weakening. And that's dampened global trade further. We need healthy trading partners. Good question Donald.
The paternalistic, surrogate decision-making thought necessary by enlightened #intellectuals is an expression of their natural disdain for the common man. They (down there) are too stupid to help themselves.
@grafikpro @Ocasio2018 I’ve noticed many states over the last 5 years have made unpaid internships illegal. Any guesses as to the “unintended” consequences? I totally agree with you.
@BackingdaBlue Exactly. Labor is no different than any good. When there is a price floor, and the minimum wage is a price floor, it creates a surplus. A surplus of labor is called unemployment. Those unemployed will be the least skilled in the surplus pool.
Danielle: "If you can't afford to pay a #livingwage .., you shouldn't be in business. It's not your workers' responsibility to subsidize your ... business #FightFor15."
Me: Nor is it the employers' duty to subsidize employees. Min Wage = Unemployment #FightEconomicIlliteracy
Just ban french fries. It's easy with a constitutional amendment. Plus this guy's from Harvard, so he must be smart and smart people are always right. Nutrition wonks from the Ivy League have been spot on accurate for the past century.
