@PaulChiangMU We know your type Paul Chiang. You did it all for the motherland. You are a Marxist-Communist shill.
Your apology means nothing and people like you have values that are fundamentally incompatible with a western democracy.
Today, during an exchange with a witness at the Standing Committee on Industry and Technology, I asked questions that inadvertently came across as dismissive of the serious issue of forced labour.
To be clear, my line of questioning referred to auto manufacturing in Shenzhen, China, and not in Xinjiang.
I regret this mistake and apologise to Ms. McCuaig-Johnston and my fellow committee members.
I condemn forced labour, in all its forms. Canada has amongst the most rigorous forced-labour import laws in the world, and I am proud to support the government’s work to eradicate forced labour from supply chains and enforce Canada’s import prohibition.
Everything in your life is your fault.
If you are fat. If you are fit. If you are fulfilled. If you are unfulfilled. If you are successful. If you are unsuccessful.
Everything is a choice. Every choice has consequences.
How your life looks today is a direct reflection of every choice you’ve ever made aggregated.
Some people choose to be bitter or make excuses or pretend to be helpless when faced with this reality.
That will only keep you in the position you’ve put yourself in today.
If you embrace the fact that you are in total control and own it, you will create a much better life for yourself.
@yuenpauwoo How did you, a Marxist Communist supporter, became a Senator in the West? If you like the way things are done in your corrupt motherland, move there. A lot of people came to Canada to escape this authoritarian regime.
@MaximeBernier This post is about buying bills not bonds. The scale of the purchases matter a lot too. I am not saying the it wouldn’t lead to higher inflation but this is missing a lot of important details.
@dampedspring Welcome back Andy. This is a classy post. I believe a lot of people are interested in your viewpoints, and this place is better with you around.
“abolish capitalism!”
cool. who grows the food???
no seriously—who’s out there at dawn breaking their back in the dirt, fixing broken irrigation lines, replacing a tractor axle in 110° heat—for free? because you think profit is mean?
who mines the lithium for your laptop, the cobalt for your EV battery, the iron for your train rails? who refines it? who ships it? who builds the ships? who insures them when they catch fire in the middle of the ocean?
who unloads the containers at the port? who drives the truck across 4 states? who services the diesel engine at the roadside stop in Nebraska when it breaks at 3am?
who keeps track of inventory, repairs the refrigeration system, updates the software, cleans the floors, builds the shelves, trains the workers, manages the risk, pays the legal fees, replaces the lightbulbs, handles the theft, the overtime, the breakdowns, the lawsuits?
who coordinates all of this across time zones and continents without profit?
you think the whole supply chain is just gonna keep running because everyone suddenly caught a case of the warm fuzzies???
you think people are going to wake up and go do hard, thankless, physical labor for vibes?
capitalism doesn’t work because people are good. it works because people are selfish and it figured out how to harness that into infrastructure. it’s the only system that survives human nature without needing to rewrite it
you kill profit, you kill production. you kill production, you kill logistics. you kill logistics, and suddenly it’s day four of your anti-capitalist utopia and the shelves are empty, the power’s out, the pharmacy’s closed, and nobody knows how to fix a fucking thing
anti-capitalism isn’t a philosophy. it’s a death wish dressed up as a virtue signal
it’s the aesthetic of rebellion powered by an iPhone, subsidized by Uber Eats, and resting on 400 years of industrial infrastructure you take for granted because you’ve never built a single useful thing in your life
you’re not oppressed. you’re just ungrateful
and the second you get your little no-profit revolution, you’ll find out exactly how long society runs on vibes: about three days, give or take—then the generators fail and you’re boiling rainwater so you can heat up your shitty powdered food
Just to let you know that people don't like you. You have nothing to do with professionalism and you are the source of hatred. Please do no lecture people on the very thing that you lack.
In my 40 years as a journalist I don’t recall there ever being this kind of pure hatred and unprofessionalism on the part of government officials against the media. We are confronting this abuse - that’s what it is — abuse — every day. Why? Because we are challenging the actions of our government. Why? Because we are asking these questions for YOU — the public. The lack of basic civility is astounding.
Hopefully for the last time - third country circumvention of trade laws is NOT a new phenomenon, NOR was it unexpected.
The entire point of flexible, globalized reciprocal tariffs is that the admin KNOWS this fraud happens, and has gotten very sharp on detecting it.
What did you think the end of de minimis from China was about? Vibes and praying for the good fortune that Temu would magically stop using that trade mode the same day?
Now, is everyone going to get caught? Of course not.
But an extremely high percentage will, with cargo being detained indefinitely, many fines and fees racking up, penalties on the nations enabling the circumvention, and a whole lot of other bads. CBP and a host of other enforcement agencies have entire teams of people dedicated to circumvention issues.
And as tedious as it is to see these people acting like their hot takes are super clever just because they've heard about it recently, it's even more exhausting that all of these retarded posts seem to come from a place of rooting for POTUS to fail while anchoring themselves in the premise that the admin has no idea what it's doing.
