The Open always reminds me of my father, Charlie Drake and his love of golf. He played regularly, gaining a 6 handicap and becoming captain of the Variety Club Golfing Society. Here he is practicing his chipping on the set of 'Sands of the Desert' at Elstree Studios back in 1960.
“Hello My Darlings”
To mark his centenary, BBC FOUR TV are running a Charlie Drake tribute on Sunday 15th June.
8.00pm ‘This Is Your Life ‘
8.30pm ‘The Charlie Drake Show’
9.00pm ‘Arena - Drake’s Progress’
I make a short appearance in two of them but don’t let that put you off!
