Thought provoking quote from @ToddWhitaker today: "You can't relationship your way into being an effective teacher." Relationships are important but they don’t trump expectations, consistency, and excellence when it comes to instruction.
Acknowledging that you don’t know something or need help is not a sign of weakness. On the contrary, it is a sign of strength and willingness to get better.
Today's students are tomorrow's parents.

Expecting a kid to learn only from a textbook is like asking them to look at a travel brochure and calling it a vacation.
Every time you interact with a student or colleague, you have the opportunity to make them feel special. That’s some powerful potential that we all have.
It’s important to remember that just because we disagree on something does not mean we have to disrespect each other.
Disagreement is a part of everyday #life.

There are no “perfect”, “easy” classes! Every class has challenges!! It’s how you choose to talk about your kiddos to coworkers, champion for them, build them up so they become better, demand they are only seen in a positive light that matters!!
The best teachers I have had and have observed have been so strong in the area of direct instruction. As we head into this year, we can’t forget the importance of this. It’s not always “tweet-worthy” nor pretty but it is crucial to effective learning in the classroom.
