26 years ago, I was made redundant and given a few grand. I decided that if I was careful, I could live off the money for 6 months trying to become a comedian before I had to get another job. I was 37. Worth a punt.

MORE YOUNG PEOPLE ARE GETTING CANCER
Kate Middleton’s revelation that she is being treated for cancer has spotlighted an alarming increase in cancer among young people.
Cancer specialist: “When I started as a cancer surgeon 20 years ago, you rarely saw any younger patients, but now I see them regularly. When they turn up, they are shocked because often they haven’t had any symptoms, and because of their age, they are not thinking about cancer.”
