Good to be with hundreds of Ukrainians who have joined our community to celebrate the new year! There are over 700 people who've been welcomed here in our region. Thanks to Daryna Malyukh and her volunteers for organizing such a community building event! We pray for peace in Ukraine
In politics you often get to meet many people working diligently to make their community better. Hazel McCallion was an excellent example of that. She was feisty and always willing to talk and advise when asked. She will be missed by many across Canada.
As the former Mayor of Miriam Toews' home town, I must say I am proud of her and her work. These are hard topics to tackle and she has started many excellent conversations. Thank you @BranchMiriam@realsarahpolley
The beautiful and brilliant author of the novel Women Talking @BranchMiriam (Miriam Toews) and I, last night. I’m very lucky to know this woman and to have had the privilege of walking around inside her wild imagination. #WomenTalking
My Dad enjoyed farming, community service and especially being a Grandpa. He passed away this morning (Jan10).He will be missed by many in the community but especially his family. Thanks to the healthcare workers and family for your care and respect you gave him in these last days.
Here are a few evening thoughts about the upcoming storm..
Latest trends have definitely shown a westward shift in the greatest impacts from this storm. This will result in a lot more snow and overall impact in Westman than previously expected (1/7)

Just 2 double vaccinated friends waiting for a chance to get a haircut.Great to reconnect with my friend Reeve Ralph Groening! Good to see the vaccination rate steadily going up here in southern Manitoba! Let's keep that going so we can connect with more friends in more places!
If you're not sure what to do after supper there is always the option of planting a tree! Otto almost rubbed the paint off this 5 year old shovel.... seems like we should be planting more trees.
As we all try to do our best through these difficult times, our family lit two candles tonight. One candle for our healthcare workers and families and another for Goerge Penner who passed away today. He was an ever positive leader and friend. He made the region a better place.
Decorated trees bring light and hope to the Bethesda Hospital grounds, at the healing garden and surrounding Bethesda Place while these 'Little Red Trees' brighten up the streets of Steinbach. https://t.co/7IdeIrh5xB
Lighting a candle in solidarity with all the health care workers in Steinbach and our region. We know healthcare workers are struggling to care for people in a tragic situation. Let's all do our part in limiting the spread. Stay home when you can, wear a mask when you're out.
Remember to be kind. There is no place for judgement or shame toward those who have contracted or recovered from the virus or toward anyone for where they live or work. #Covid19MB
