The minor and sporadic reporting of almost the biggest news to hit the world for many decades (apart from climate crisis) by nearly all Australia’s mainstream media and a lot of English-speaking media internationally today is terrifying.
Because it speaks volumes about how much of our global media has been captured by fascist oligarchs (like Rupert Murdoch) who now actively or tacitly support Putin’s authoritarian ideologies rather than revile his power, cruelty and anti-democratic rule.
And they do this at least partly because most media oligarchs (particularly Rupert Murdoch) also have huge percentages of their fortunes tied up in Russian fossil fuel ventures, and they’ll do anything rather than risk losing those increasing rivers of cash.
Let that fucking sink in.

Hugh Grant tweeted a request at activists protesting outside Westminster to play the Benny Hill theme on their loudspeakers; when they did it became the soundtrack for street interviews with leading Tories trying explain the situation to the British people
This morning @DaleBeas, @ElizabethDabars and @Josh_Peak were in Parliament to witness the removal of the Govts workers comp bill. Due to the advocacy of the united union movement we have achieved a better outcome for injured workers.
The fact that Murdoch media has resorted to this kind of outright batshit crazy outburst gives me some hope that the conservative right is finally in decline.
After their company-wide campaign to prevent the election of a Labor Govt, the Murdoch monopoly isn’t taking it well. Just take a look at Murdoch’s positioning for the next 3 years.
Morrison's defeat speech is like a distillation of his years of dishonesty. That the economy is stronger, that they've improved our defence & strategic situations etc, that society is better now. It's almost like they can rewrite the truth with some spin

The interesting thing about the democracy sausage is that we have compulsory voting so there's no need to entice people to vote. Therefore the democracy sausage exists for no political reason. It exists solely because we, as a nation, love putting sausages in bread. #ausvotes
