Up on LinkedIn today: why I built three legal entities to build one company.
PBC + 501(c)(3) + 501(c)(4). The structural argument for why the social-wellness category needs all 3.

You can be the fittest, most optimized version of yourself and still wake up alone every Saturday morning.
You're not lonely because you're under-optimized. You're lonely because the structures that produce connection were never designed.

Most days I live in two worlds at the same time.
Morning: building a Public Benefit Corporation. Night: a (Bushwick) warehouse party I've been going to for 30 yrs.
The wellness industry asks you to pick one. I never could. After decades I figured out why nobody should have to.
The body that wants to be at the gym at 7AM and the soul that wants to be in a packed club at 2AM are not the same problem with different solutions.
They're the same person asking for the same thing — to be alive, in their body, with other people who get it.
Good morning
Working with your personality and temperament is the key that unlocks your abilities and opportunities.
Trying to be who you are not will lead to tension, friction, and breakdowns.
Leaning in to your uniqueness will set you free to soar.

Good morning
The most valuable asset you actually have is the ability to focus & concentrate.
In a world epitomized by controlling & colonizing our attention that destroys our ability to focus & think so that we rely on our impulse & reaction behavior, bc...
Pulled from the LinkedIn post this morning:
"Community is a cost center on a normal P&L. Connection is a feature you bolt on, not the product you sell."
That's the structural argument. It's also why the wellness industry can't fix what it's been measuring.
This week I want to spend time on belonging.
Specifically: why the wellness industry ($4.5T category) has structurally ignored 30 yrs of peer-reviewed research showing connection sits below food & shelter on hierarchy of human needs.

Most people in this space analyzed the problem. I ran the experiments. 15 years. 5 hypotheses. Real bodies, real venues, real capital. Here's the arc — and what survived contact with reality.
What this gives me that researchers, journalists, and policymakers in this space don't have: 15 years of dated receipts on what didn't survive contact with reality. Every piece of what we're building is downstream of that. The architecture is the answer.
H5: Hybrid legal architecture — PBC + research nonprofit + civic nonprofit, joined at the hub — does what neither pure private nor public can alone. WELLVYL PBC + SWI (501c3) + Wellville Foundation (501c4) — all incorporated 2023. The 15-year question's answer.
H4: Private sector alone is too slow to fix what's breaking. Civic infrastructure has to be re-architected. Tested by running for Mayor of NYC in 2021. Lost the race. Won the framework: Emotional Reform, Social Wellness Institute, Wellville Foundation.
