Axelar and Secret Network confirm a 4.67 million bridge exploit
A cross-chain bridge connection just got drained. Axelar (@axelar) and Secret Network (@SecretNetwork) both confirm roughly $4.67 million worth of tokens were taken from assets bridged over IBC between the two chains, with the exploit isolated to the Secret-side smart contract on that link.
Axelar's emergency committee says it disabled the Secret and Secret-SNIP connections and is reaching out to exchanges and law enforcement.
Both teams say the damage is contained: other IBC connections, Secret's own tokens, and Axelar's core protocol are all unaffected. A full post-mortem is on the way.
Agents need to transact without humans in the loop. Custodial wallets don't work — agents can't ask for withdrawals.
On-ledger lets agents pay and get paid autonomously.
Cross-chain inbound fits the same model.
