@CutMyTaxUK No one likes paying tax but accept it. However, you can push it to the point of resentment. That point has already been reached & passed. Taxing more, while not cutting welfare spending & doling out more to public sect, will be political suicide from workers in the private sect.

@iainmartin1 I think those shouting "austerity" are taking Brown's profligacy as the yard stick. That was unsustainable & we'd have reached this current point a few years earlier if carrying on. The Tories spent like mad, but not that much worse than during the Blair years.

@kelvmackenzie When economy doesn't do what this Gov expects (for some reason they think tax/spend has no negative implications!) then the only option they know is to control things in the belief that they can force the economy to follow their path, which of course they think is the right one.
