@DAaronovitch @MJtweetings 1) Yes - and is not only not generous it only applies to a narrow band of eligible people - generally on benefits - residing in London. There is no wall around London and people come in to work or see family but these are not eligible for the scheme.

@ElimuAnn And an example- my late mother who lived on the border needed carers. These wonderful people looking after a 92 year old bed ridden Alzheimer’s patient all used cars that would not pass ULEZ - so now…….no carers

@ElimuAnn What you have written is not actually true either. There is no wall between the outer London boroughs and the counties - people live and work either side of the border. The scrappage and help schemes only apply within London not outside and are not generous.

@Kevin_Maguire When drivers realise??? You do know Khan is using a different and skewed for his purpose?What about families who live the wrong side of the line - parents who have to pay £12.50 each time they want to see their kids and grandkids? They are not eligible for the scrap page scheme

@Kevin_Maguire And what about tradesmen? Let’s not bother going into London - we can’t absorb the extra cost. It’s not as if the public transport is up to much in these areas - limited buses that are direct routes - No Underground in the south east quarter - it’s why people use cars
