"Confidential" leaks have been happening all year... Mayor Farkas: crickets....... Release of information early regarding your money. Farkas: Straight to Jail.

It was me. I can't keep being complicit in hiding things from Calgarians (even if it is "process") and I won't hide behind anonymity. Voting "NO" to in-camera isn't enough.

This isn't a big issue though.

The release of this unconstraint budget is a great tool. Calgarians now have the opportunity to be a part of the fix instead of being fed a narrative. We can reduce those tax increases by reducing or eliminating non-essential spending. The Farkas Fix from last November won't work this time around by paying down taxes with rainy day funds and blaming everyone else.

The cuts have to be deep and real before we even think about turning taxpayer's upside down and shaking them for more money.

The next 4 years should be focused on core responsibilities: Infrastructure, Public Safety and Essential Services.

Yes, we need more police/peace officers, firehalls, better roads, better water infrastructure, Greenline north and south, train to the airport, waste collection etc and due to the neglect of these services over the past decade it will cost money.

We however do not need more corporate subsidized hotels and shoebox rentals, football arenas, or The Mayors expressed interest in spending millions of dollars for an Olympic bid.

If the Mayor and the city want to retaliate me for this, they can do whatever they have to do. But the real fight is with priority spending and doing right by Calgarians.

Richardson has mightily regressed, and appears to be completely checked out after requesting an offseason trade.

The former No. 4 pick could now be a cut candidate before his fourth season even begins.
