@AiEleuther@steve47285 This is brilliant and your voice needs to be heard in the media, @steve47285 “it's at least possible to put brain-like algorithms on computer chips that lack any inherent motivation to compassion and friendship…compassion and friendship have to be added into the source code”
@geoffreyhinton regarding how to maintain “control” over AI… are you sure that’s the best question? Should parents focus on controlling their kids? What about thinking about how to “hard-wire” AIs’ intrinsic motivation to support the well being of humanity and the earth?
@jkronand@ylecun@ESYudkowsky It will depend on how the AGIs are designed. If we can design them to intrinsically care most about supporting the well-being of humanity, we have the greatest chance of having them be “good”. The focus should be on hardwiring that motivation.
@ylecun Seems like the real issue that needs to be addressed is not how to force a specific behavior, but rather how to deeply cultivate values like love of humanity… just as parents can’t ultimately control their children, but can do their best to inspire empathy and integrity in them.
@POTUS This was the right choice. The bank’s failure was the fault of management and the regulatory system. Depositors are not to blame and should be made whole, regardless of the amount deposited.
My budget reduces the deficit by $3 trillion by making the wealthiest pay their fair share and cutting spending on special interests.
This Administration pays for its proposals – and we’ll ensure no one making less than $400,000 a year pays a penny in new taxes.
A quarter of our national debt – which took 200 years to accumulate – was added by my predecessor.
How did Congress respond?
They voted three times to keep paying America’s bills without preconditions or crisis.
They paid America’s bills then, why won’t they now?
@elonmusk Unfortunately, those voting against a peace settlement are voting for Ukraine to be nuked. I wish that weren’t the case, but Putin is now cornered.
@JoSMSMotorsport@CBSNews I was referring to the voting history of these areas while they were still part of Ukraine. They have historically voted for pro-Russian candidates in Ukraine.
Congressional Republicans can talk all they want about spending.
Their tax bill added $2 trillion to the deficit.
My economic plan isn't just paid for, it'll reduce the deficit by hundreds of billions.
@BIgHydrad @Amaterasu0wO@playa2517@latimes Actually I agree with you. Americans have a responsibility to voice our opposition to continuing the war as Zelensky tries to expand its scope into Crimea and the Donbas. Ukraine can’t win without our support.
@Amaterasu0wO@playa2517@latimes I’m no fan of Putin whatsoever. I just think Zelensky needs to quit while he’s ahead. Putin is desperate and my guess is he will likely use tactical nukes shortly. It’s not worth it to try to retake areas that have historically voted pro-Russia.
@playa2517@latimes The same situation applied to the thirteen colonies when they revolted against the English. Shall we dissolve the US and join the UK?
And was the overthrow of the democratically elected president in Ukraine in 2014 constitutional? That’s why these areas seceded.
