I have said, quite a few times, that the dominance of European club football is killing the growth of football elsewhere in the world. Contrasting styles and philosophies, which gave a rich mosaic, a rich tapestry, to football, is gone. And the game is far worse for it.
Our teams at the @FIFAWorldCup are all pseudo-European and play a similar way.
Look at #Brazil for example: The #Selecao we knew and loved, with its technique and flamboyance, as displayed by Pele, Garrincha, Jairzinho, Tostao, Zico and Socrates, is gone… 😢 It’s been gone for decades now. Any wonder they are now a shadow of themselves?
Football needs to regrow its rich global tapestry, with various styles of play, different ways of coaching and development of players, rather than Europe dictating everything.
The present state of affairs is not helping football. Its leaders should think deeply about this matter and do something about it.
Dear South Africans, this is Ghana.
Always remember, our people are not a downtrodden people. We are not a subjugated people. We are a proud nation. We are a proud people. We will look through the window to check how your problems vanished the moment our people left. We know what we’d find.
