I found this young emperor moth out on the Dorset heathland at the weekend. It had just emerged and was starting to pump out his wings.
I stayed with it for about 1 1/2hrs taking shots at various stages before it was finally ready to fly off. @DWTWeyPort@savebutterflies
Just been told that they helped someone in Weymouth at 10.30โฆIโm in Weymouth!!! Why have they not contacted me as well!!! Ridiculous!!!๐คฌ๐คฌ Donโt ever use them!! @Dorsetecho
@TheRAC_UK are a complete joke!! I waited 5 hours yesterday for recovery before agreeing to leave my vehicle and go home and sort it today as it was going to be at least 2 more hours. Iโve now been waiting another 3 hours in the vehicle and still nothing!!! Help!!!!!๐คฌ
@graham_jaggard Both sites are SSSI's so surely the RSPB has a responsibility to has a duty to maintain them in line with the designated features at the very least?? Looking at the state of Radipole these days I seriously doubt that's the case!!!
@radareggleton@BDSdragonflies@BrownHawker Thanks Mark๐ yes back in the day they were at a few local sites but this is the first one Iโve seen for several years !!
Several locals, myself included, were starting to worry that these had been lost from Dorset over recent years.
Luckily we managed to find this female today, the only one, after a lot of searching but hopefully a positive sign.

@lawts21@MarcHeathym007@MJLbirder@BDSdragonflies@BrownHawker Hi Steve, one male red-veined was on the same lake, I also saw a male and the female on a small pond approximately 50-100 meters from the car park (left of the car park looking out towards the reserve)
@MarcHeathym007@MJLbirder@BDSdragonflies It's difficult to tell at the moment, it looks like they are just starting to emerge, yesterday there were at least a 3-4 males, today it was dull and windy but we still saw a couple of males and also a teneral male and female & red-veined darter M & F
@dP85186699@BC_Dorset@savebutterflies I would go for large skipper for the first two pics, as well as the markings I'm looking at the hooked antennae. I think the third is probably a small skipper because of the orange tips to the antennae but its not a good angle for the markings..happy to be corrected if I'm wrong

It was pretty warm and sunny this morning in Dorset so we had a go for an early adder and struck lucky!! Photo taken with a long zoom lens to avoid disturbance and heavily cropped.
