Kay’alani is a participant in Buckner’s NextStep program. NextStep is a supervised independent living program that provides women aging out of care the support they need to reach their educational and career goals. We accomplish this by providing safe housing, community, 1-1 coaching and more.
Today is National Youth Aging out of Foster Care Day and NextStep is just one of the ways we help youth aging out of care. To learn more about our programs like FYi (Fostering Youth Independence) and how you can help. Visit https://t.co/B1sMOv8Moq to learn more.
50 years ago, 69 children living at an orphanage in Cam Ranh, Vietnam, were brought to Dallas to avoid the war-torn chaos. When they arrived in Dallas, they were brought to Buckner's Children's Home, where they found a safe refuge as they adjusted to their new surroundings.
Five decades later, some of the original 69 children, now adults with families, are making the trip back to Cam Ranh together to reflect on their journey.
