Are you one of the 299,400 customers that VMware doesn’t care about?
I think everyone knew what to expect when Broadcom spent $61 billion on VMware. RIP Symantec. What we didn’t expect, was how quickly it would happen.
From the dozens of VMware customers who've reached out to me in the last few weeks, it's clear that it's been rough for a LOT of people.
Basically everyone uses VMware products. Almost 90% of Fortune 500 companies, over 300k customers in total, are using products by VMware that also happen to be pretty notorious for lock-in.
So what’s the issue? Broadcom has been very clear. Their focus is on their “600 core customers”.
That means there are 299,400 customers that are not in for a good time.
In the last month, we’ve already seen…
🔸600-1000% price increases
🔸No more perpetual licenses
🔸New subscription model
And a dozen products that are no longer for sale
Does that mean we’re screwed?
No.
And unsurprisingly because it’s me👀 The answer is platform engineering.
I've helped write an article on how simply platform orchestration can build an exit ramp from VMware in no time. We're gonna get through this👇

I am really proud to have helped on this. Basically all of us connect to or interact with VMware products in some way.
If you're one of the 300,000 customers impacted. Reach out. I would love to help you escape.

Just a few weeks ago, almost the entirity of Humanitec met together in Potsdam for 4 awesome days of team meetings, and team building🏗
From deep dives into the power of Internal Developer Platforms and our Platform Orchestrator, to board games and swimming in the lake, it was a fantastic week for coming together as a team.
My first ever tweet. No pressure.
I won't be sharing much but I'm currently working on interesting stuff and should at least do something to make sure it's seen.
