All of the utterly insane major 'news' at the moment is best seen through the prism of #AdamCurtis films such as #Hypernormalisation
Failure to do this will, alas, just render you as Just Another Silly Bastard - no matter who you are or what you have achieved.
@OfficialHuey No it means I fancy a life offgrid, and this just reinforces that feeling. Records, cds, books, DVDs, old recordings of radio plus the odd 'oasis' like your show - our time here is precious, happiness passion and love need to max'd. Old school (including my food & my transport)
@OfficialHuey@VirginRadioUK Talking of which... don't forget Eddie Chacon. Best albums of this decade for me, and well worthy of regular inclusion on your Sunday Service.. to me, they are both a reaction and antidote to this exhausting crazy world
I am deeply concerned by the @scott_mills story, following his sacking by @BBC.
Mills was allegedly investigated by the Metropolitan Police, with a file handed to the CPS who decided there was insufficient evidence to prosecute.
If an individual can be investigated, cleared of prosecution due to insufficient evidence, & still face professional ruin, then we are entering dangerous territory.
Institutions must be very careful not to substitute due process with reputational expediency. Justice cannot operate on suspicion alone, nor can fairness be preserved if allegations—untested in a court of law—are treated as proof.
We must ask ourselves: are we upholding justice, or quietly dismantling it?
@OfficialHuey Zero tolerance to it, the world is full of real music, real people and real life. No artificial anything for me. And thank you for the shout on Sunday, here it is (re)playing at the spot Lisa loaded her work everyday
What A Fool Believes:
AI is progress.
Every conviction is safe & 'true'.
Every po-faced social media accusation needs zero proof.
Voting for the shill of your choice 'makes a difference'.
Every story on the 'news' is true & Massively Important to know.
Father Christmas is real.
@rabbitaway Monarchy doomed anyway... as is everyone else who isn't WEF 'chosen few'. Silly silly bastards applauding their own demise. Who'd have thought the death of critical thinking would become so tedious so quickly?
@KHarveyProctor Starmer's rise was his reward for the role he played in weaponising law against 'the people' in this way - just as 'truthers' are allowed to flourish 'against the system' (be they an Icke or a Galloway) so long as they fail to recognise this screamingly obvious betrayal.
@moor_facts Yesterday instead of being irritated by the 'news' bulletin/hourly intrusion, I listened to the actual words being reported.... and spent the next half hour or so howling with laughter. It's gone way beyond Through The Looking Glass 🤣🤣🤣
With "society", as it were, in the midst of an orchestrated free fall and 'online social media' descent into a crappy combination of AI ads & algorithmic gaslighting.... the logical response is knocking it all on the head. "Going Underground"
Cursory glance at the many 'political' comedians/musicians/commentators on here shows all completely dazzled by media mirrors. This Is Not America. AI as police, judge, jury & executioner - when everybody who works with AI recognition knows it's a crock of shonky shit - that's ok
As far as epitaphs go... yes! I'll have 'this dude gets it' on my plaque/tombstone 👌🏻
Now do yourselves a favour and tune to Virgin Radio for some musical medicine right about now
This dude gets it.
Don’t waste your time with music shows that force the issue.
The Huey Show on Sundays does it differently.
10-2 @VirginRadioUK
Download the app and enjoy your life…
@hattonburn@OfficialHuey@VirginRadioUK It's on Catch Up - App AND website... during the week (my work involves driving) I basically replay them thru my Bluetooth boombox at a suitably loud volune along with other choice weekend broadcasting (Vintage charts, POTP, some 6) to avoid getting my intelligence/taste insulted
Thought for the weekend; Every mediocre track you hear on radio is robbing you of hearing something great ..of which there are tens of thousands that exist.
You will never get time back.
Ditto stations hammering the same old tracks until you end up sick of them.. @OfficialHuey
Melanie Phillips delivers a chilling diagnosis of the West's intellectual crisis: Ideology has replaced knowledge, and reason itself is under siege.
Key points from her 4:37 clip:
- Modern orthodoxies (multiculturalism, lifestyle equivalence, etc.) are treated as absolute moral goods.
- Challenge them → you're not just wrong; you're evil, standing against human/planetary betterment.
- Dissent must be silenced: no platform, no debate, no hearing.
- Evidence contradicting the ideology is dismissed as lies or "not facts."
- Universities—once crucibles of reason—are now engines destroying it, while claiming moral superiority.
- Result: Civil discourse dies. Replaced by insult weaponized to shut people down.
This isn't just about politics—it's the erosion of objective truth, evidence-based reasoning, and the ability to disagree without demonization.
We're witnessing the destruction of reason itself.
4:37 clip laying bare how ideology has become inimical to rationality 👇
When ideology trumps evidence and disagreement becomes "evil," what survives of open society?
Where do you see this dynamic strongest right now—in academia, media, politics, or everyday life?
