@melissagrelo 1)Schools are essential & stay open. 2)Close indoor businesses that can’t comply w mask wearing & spacing at ALL times. 3)Support/pay biz & ppl who cant work. 4)Massivly incrse & normalze testing; if test pos & can’t work due 2 quarantne u still get paid (to reduce fear of test).
@BmptGuardian So sad. But kids should not be charged as adults. As awful as a crime is, it doesn’t change the make up of one’s brain. Unless they can show the youth’s brain is as developed as an adult’s, how can this be allowed? Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to understand.
Time for year round education in schools? @fordnation @Sflecce @globeandmail #onpoli Coronavirus opens doors to rethinking innovation in schools https://t.co/XPuBPTjRx0
@melissagrelo@Sflecce@fordnation Are teachers / school boards able to rent spaces (ie at museums or event venues) to hold classes that accommodate proper distancing?
Covid-19 has taken a huge toll on families of children with autism. Children are regressing at an alarming rate and parents remain in the dark about a path forward. @fordnation has left families to fend for themselves with no plan to get children with autism back in the classroom
Need more evidence that childcare unavailability is constraining workers' returns to work? Lone parents with children under the age of 13 have seen much weaker recoveries in work hours than married parents with young kids, parents with older kids, and childless adults. #cdnecon
The Ford government broke the Ontario Autism Program.
Now with COVID-19, the community is facing dire situations.
I've held 8 consultations to hear from the #autism community.
The findings of those discussions are outlined in my report. #onpoli

@SafehavenTO @ToddSmithPC Keep it up Minister, let’s get Needs-based funding for children with autism! (Or move their health needs to the ministry of health!)
@AlexMunter Good point. Also children’s therapy is still on hold, further hurting them and their families. Time to focus covid help & money to seniors and ppl w compromised immune systems, and get rest of society back working so we can afford and receive all the care that’s needed.
@randyhillier Agree. Isn’t it time all this money we are giving everyone should be targeted to seniors and ppl with compromised immune systems? And let’s get the rest of society moving again & being able to afford all the needed care.
“She wonders why therapy can’t be deemed an “essential service”...time is of the essence; otherwise Isaiah will be a “casualty” of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

@globeandmail@acoyne@GlobeDebate No kidding, just disingenuous or ignorant that it took them this long to acknowledge this. Masks and mass testing, that’s what we’ve been behind in and what we need.
The reason we are in this fix isn’t because of “over-dependence on globalization, free trade and global supply chains.” It’s because we failed to prepare, in the face of persistent warnings that a pandemic was inevitable.
In these cases, everyone is suffering while trying to do the right thing. We NEED the Minister to take leadership and find a way to help them.
