In the last month I've seen two @Tesla@robotaxi and just today I saw a @Waymo on Leonidas, but when I go to either app they say they aren't operating in New Orleans.
Does anybody have an early invite code or something?
The absolute worst thing about opening this app is spotting a banger tweet for 0.2 seconds before the feed auto-refreshes and sends it straight into the void.
Gone forever.
๐จWOW!!!
An 81-year-old man was hauling heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs, 14 HOURS A DAY, to pay for his wife's CANCER TREATMENT...
...then the woman at the top of those stairs opened her door, heard his story, and raised him $600,000 to GO HOME to be with his wife!!!! โค๏ธ
His name is Don Johnson.
He's 81 years old, from The Colony, Texas, just outside Dallas.
His wife Josephine has been by his side for 57 YEARS. She's fighting an aggressive cancer.
Three years ago, when the medical bills started piling up, Don went looking for work.
He tried Amazon. He tried Walmart. Nobody would take him.
So he became an independent contractor delivering lost airline luggage to people's front doors.
Sometimes 14 hours a day. Hundreds of miles in a single shift. Driving as far as OKLAHOMA to get a bag to its owner.
He put over 200,000 MILES on his own car doing it.
At 81 years old.
"I appreciate what we do get from insurance, but it doesn't cover it all. And cancer treatment is very expensive."
Then on a September day he dropped a suitcase on the steps outside a home in The Colony.
A woman named Erin Howell heard the noise on her door cam and came outside.
She offered to help carry it, and she asked him a simple question: why is a man your age doing this?
His answer: "It's the only job that will hire me."
Then he told her about Josephine.
Erin could have wished him well and gone back inside.
Instead she started a GoFundMe and a TikTok page called "Help Don Retire."
She wrote that at an age when he should be resting by his wife's side, he was out on the highway lifting bags to keep her alive.
The goal was $150,000.
It blew past that in DAYS.
Then $281,000.
Then $370,000.
Now more than $600,000 and still climbing.
More than ELEVEN THOUSAND people gave.
But here's the part that got me...
Right before all of this, Don's car had started breaking down and he'd already been forced to cut back his hours.
He was running out of road.
And that's exactly when a stranger he'd talked to for five minutes knocked on the whole country's door and AMERICA showed up.
"I left and thought I'd never see her again," Don said. "And it was an amazing thing she did for me, for us."
His wife, Josephine says after 57 years, she's watching "for better or worse" happen right in front of her.
"I'm so happy that he turned out to be the man he is."
And Don? He's not talking about himself.
"I love her dearly, and I just want her to be well. It restores my faith in people. For her and others to do for me, that was a miracle. I look forward to the day that I can help people just like I'm being helped now."
He never asked for a dime.
He just kept carrying the bags.
GOD BLESS Don and Josephine Johnson, and GOD BLESS Erin Howell.
THIS IS THE AMERICA I KNOW!!! ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ
@__apf__ I vaguely remember a celebrity on a talk show complaining that one of her kids said his friend got $20 from the tooth fairy for every tooth, and she didn't like the precedent that kids parents were setting.
Democrats in places like Illinois keep passing gun bans, but they never explain who protects this woman when she needs it.
Sheโs pregnant, armed, and responsible, and that apparently makes her MORE offensive to the left than the criminals their policies keep releasing back onto the street. They trust the government with everything and trust mothers with nothing.
A woman guarding her family isnโt โextremeโ. Itโs the most American thing youโll see all day.. ๐ฅ๐ฅ
@streetmediatv This is the exact reason why it's illegal to park in front of a fire hydrant. The hose needs a straight path to the hydrant near the connection point.
@emmii_67 AI was trained on so many more photos with people wearing smart watches than without, that it assumes all watches looks like that. It doesn't understand historical context.
@MrColionNoir What about all those 18-20 year olds serving in the military who are fully qualified to carry an M7 or M27(rifle), or M17/18 (pistol). Should we tell them you're good overseas but when you are in the US you are too young to own a pistol?
