The inversion is strong here. If a migrant has to pay back a little bit of the money they receive from us, they are still receiving money from us. They are not being "taxed".

The UK has committed around £25 billion in support to Ukraine over the last five years.

Now Rachel Reeves says our own defence investment plan is worth £15 billion.

So we've found significantly more for funding Ukraine than for rebuilding Britain's own armed forces.

No wonder morale is under scrutiny after several senior military figures recently announced their resignations.

Britain should never be an afterthought when it comes to Britain's defence.
