*UK only*
This is pioneering 8-bit video game composer Rob Hubbard's own orchestration of his Commodore 64 tune "Bump Set Spike!" recorded with the Czech Studio Orchestra in Prague in 2022. It's on the 8-Bit Symphony Pro: Second Half project, along with 21 other tracks (the first volume of 8-Bit Symphony has 20 more!).
We at C64Audio/8-Bit Symphony are offering (for free) all of the 8-Bit Symphony project to music departments and amateur/semi-pro orchestras worldwide to study, rehearse, perform and adapt. Scores, parts, Sibelius files, MusicXML, audio and video: an amazing battle-tested portfolio of well over 40 brilliant symphonic arrangements of 8-Bit games from Thing on a Spring and Monty on the Run to Dragon's Lair II and The Immortal. We would also welcome adaptations for smaller ensembles that we can redistribute. It's all good!
If you know any departments or orchestras that could do with a ton of material to pep up their playlist, please put them our way. I would be grateful for reposts!
You preserve history by teaching it, and at 8-Bit Symphony our focus isn't on gatekeeping our scores, it's throwing them out to a new generation to study and fall in love with in a whole new way: and to make the point that 8-bit music that isn't just Nintendo or Sega! By comparing the originals (widely available on the Internet) with these orchestrations, there are also valuable lessons to be learned from that musical journey.
There are so many miracles in this video it's untrue: the fact that Rob was skilled enough to create an amazing orchestral work out of his own piece, the fact that we managed to record it with a proper professional orchestra, and the fact that we have this video. It was done on a shoestring budget running on mostly passion by fans and composers working hand in hand.

A Thread. Well, we are now into 2024, but there was lots of really good new music last year. I should say that I’m sure I’ve not listened to everything new from last year but I’ve made this list based on what I’ve heard and of course it is my opinion.
Today we are pleased to announce that we have interviewed the historical musical choir ANÚNA.
We talk with Michael McGlynn, creator, director and composer of ANÚNA along with singers Sara Weeda, Aisling McGlynn and Lauren McGlynn about #XenobladeChronicles2 and #XenobladeChronicles3, Yasunori Mitsuda's work, videogames, music, the concept of ANÚNA and more.
ANÚNA, more than a historical musical choir. Full interview: https://t.co/mG8yGEmxoj
A real gem - this is"Ever Come to an End" by @YasunoriMitsuda - beautiful solo from @saradesaar - from rehearsal and soundcheck last night. This song is featured on our new album "Otherworld". We think it is just magic.

John Williams has written some of the best end credit suites of all time; The Empire Strikes Back, Temple of Doom, E.T., etc. One rarely mentioned is his Home Alone suite ft. a reprise of four themes, including a fun arrangement of the "Wet Bandits Theme."
