Re: my previous post…
Actual footage this week of Wilson Contreras yelling at his teammates for being supportive during a game. Seems to be ignored by people who have it out for Duran right now. Shouldn’t be overlooked.
Honestly don’t even trade Jarren Duran. Then he gets to live in a new city and play for a new club. Send his ass down to Worcester he’s got two options left
@zackgibney Prior to Lamelo Ball’s extension with the hornets (who was just traded 😂) the largest contract they gave out was to Gordon Hayward for $120 Million. That’s not mismanagement that is a refusal to spend money on good players. The salary cap will not change how owners spend.
@zackgibney While you may think this is true (I don’t believe it to be), there are numerous examples of teams with cheap owners in salary cap leagues whose teams remain uncompetitive. Has the cap in the NBA has helped teams like the Hornets & Pelicans remain competitive?
@zackgibney This just helps my point. “Small market teams” actually decided to spend on their superstars and it led to championships. Maybe if the pirates had decided to spend money on their best players they would be more competitive!
@zackgibney / owners that spend money actually leads to championships, no matter the market size. The problem in Pittsburgh isn’t the lack of an MLB salary cap but the cheap ownership that refuses to spend.
@zackgibney This leaves just St. Louis and Colorado as small market teams to win a championship in a way that people ‘expect’ small market MLB teams to win championships. This actual lie being told by this graphic is that small market teams can compete in the big 4 leagues. When in reality /
