As we approach the 12th anniversary of the ISIS Genocide against Chaldean & Syriac Christians in Nineveh Plains, Iraq, our community is not only fighting to keep our indigenous towns in Iraq. But, we are also fighting against Muslims invading our neighborhoods in the West. A phenomenon known as, “they follow us wherever we go.”

After escaping persecution in the Middle East, Chaldeans and Assyrians set-up cultural enclaves in Western countries to keep our ancient Christian culture and distinct Aramaic-based language alive, while also assimilating to the West. In recent years, Muslims have been intentionally moving into our enclaves in America and Australia, as 2 examples, and trying to replace our Chaldean & Assyrian Christian cultures with their Arab Muslim culture.

In Western Sydney, cities such as Fairfield, Liverpool, & surrounding areas are majority Chaldean and Assyrian Christian. Recently, Muslims began intentionally moving in even though they have their own enclaves in other parts of Sydney. Additionally, in 2017, the Australian Government announced they would be settling thousands of Iraqi/Syrian Muslim “refugees” into Fairfield, Liverpool, & surrounding areas, knowing very well these are majority Chaldean & Assyrian Christian areas. Essentially, placing the people that committed a genocide against from the Middle East into our neighborhoods in the West, with no regard for the trauma this causes our communities.
