@KatieCMayers The criticism on Drew is getting harsher since the apology video came (and deleted). They made fun of her through memes, and many of them are bad. This is not criticism anymore. This is bullying. They act like Drew is the only one returning during the strike.

@KatieCMayers Drew Barrymore is a big, famous name, which makes her an easier target for all the backlash. You would expect this to fade away in the next few years, but due to cancel culture, it will stay.

Ellen's backlash faded away over the years because social media didn't exist back then.

@KatieCMayers Since Drew is an easier target, harsh criticism only goes to her. This is also likely associated with mob mentality (e.g. multiple hate posts on Drew coming from normal accounts on IG).

Drew had a contract that she's not allowed to breach, or else she'll lose the show.

@KatieCMayers Remember the scene from Matilda (the one from 1996) when the kids finally kicked Trunchbull out of school and she never returned? That's how I see this situation, and cancel culture in general.

Partly this is the staff's choice, who might've made a request to CBS to force Drew to resume production so they can get paid, but at the writers' expense.
