I saw a post about a woman who signed up for marriage counseling with her husband. After their individual intake sessions, the counselors contacted her and said they couldn’t, in good conscience, continue with couples therapy because the relationship had multiple layers of abuse. Instead, they offered her resources to help her leave safely and begin individual therapy. They later called the husband and told him they simply didn’t have any counselors available to take their case.
