Everyone talks about AI and nobody explains it. That's what I'm here for.

trail of bits just released two plugins for AI coding agents, and the idea behind them is worth knowing.
in plain english: you ask an agent to fix one bug, and it fixes it. but it can also change other code along the way, and you may not notice.
these plugins check what else the agent touched and flag changes that could break something.
trail of bits says that across 130+ patches it saw 25% fewer false positives than the baseline agent.
it is a vendor’s own test, so treat the number as a starting point.
the agent can fix the bug but you still need to read what else it changed.

meta just released muse spark open, and the label “open weight” is worth understanding.
it means the trained model files are public, so you can download and run it yourself instead of only using it through a website.
this one has 816 billion parameters, which is the model’s size, but only 42 billion are used for each request. think of a huge team where only the right specialists answer each question.
it can run on two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios, so a normal laptop is out.
meta’s license also limits commercial use, so check the terms before building a business on it.

“on-device AI” means the AI runs on your phone instead of sending your information somewhere else to be processed
google and singapore are using it to detect scam conversations while keeping messages on the device
basically: the warning comes to you. your chat stays put

Excited about our new Bee devices launching today. They turn your conversations into summaries, to-dos, and reminders, so the details are there when you need them.
Bee Frontier goes on your wrist or clips to your clothing, and Bee Eclipse snaps to the back of your phone to catch what you'd otherwise forget throughout your day, whether it's notes from a class you're taking, the details of a trip you're planning, or an idea that comes to you in the car.
They connect to Alexa+ and https://t.co/Z6kkwemkMT, so the things you mention are easy to find later. And you're always in control…one button turns it on or off, a light shows when it's on, audio is never stored, and only you can see your data.
Think folks are gonna find this really handy. https://t.co/miymqkFzPS
We want to support the mathematics community in turning progress in AI into deeper human understanding and new discoveries. To support that goal, we are contributing $5 million to a new Simons Foundation initiative to help mathematicians examine, understand, and build on results produced by AI, including the results we recently published.
The funding, managed and awarded by the @SimonsFdn will support workshops, conferences, and special programs. We will also provide access to our models and computing resources to Simons Foundation-supported researchers.
@theo because if it meaningfully raises the ceiling for long running coding agents, “i’ll just build it myself” starts meaning something very different.

@satyanadella Microsoft is building its own AI chips at multi-gigawatt scale because renting Nvidia forever was starting to feel a little too much like paying cloud storage for the entire internet.
Gemini 4 Argon is now available in Cursor!
It scores 52.8% on CursorBench at default effort, on par with Opus 5.5.
Priced at $2/M input and $10/M output tokens.
